Stitch Workshop Two- Storytelling through Stitch

£120.00

Full day Workshop with Lisa Vaughan

Thursday 20th February 10-4pm

Saturday 5th April 10-4pm

In this class you will develop the hand stitch techniques learnt in Stitch One and continue your stitch journey learning appliqué and patchwork. Lisa encourages you to start experimenting with hand stitches as mark making tools; using stitch and fabric to illustrate your ideas and stories.

The day will start with Lisa showing you examples of her own work and she will talk about the dialogues within them. You can see how her collections of found objects and words illustrate her embroidered artworks.

Learn to create a patchwork base and to use appliqué and stitch to create a decorative composition. Simple templates supplied in class can be used for appliqué or stitch outlines.

During this class you will be creating your own original artwork. Lisa will encourage you to think about the use of space within your composition, colour application and suitable stitch techniques for your design.

All materials and embroidery equipment will be provided in the workshop. We use oeko tex linens and sustainable fabrics as our base fabric. We also reuse and re purpose other discarded fabrics being conscious of our environmental responsibilities. If you do have any favourite fabric or threads at home that you would like to work with, please feel free to bring them along.

This is a one day class with a break for lunch. We do not have a cafe on site so please bring your lunch with you. We will provide plenty of tea, coffee and homemade cake.
