3 hour hand stitch workshop with Lisa Vaughan

Thursday 30th January 6-9pm

Thursday 13 March 6-9pm

Thursday 24 April 6-9pm

Saturday 17 May 10am-1pm

This contemporary stitch workshop introduces you to a relaxed and playful exploration of hand embroidery. You will first master five different stitch techniques which you can use to decorate a beautiful linen napkin or maybe you would like to just continue experimenting with these techniques under Lisa’s guidance.

Firstly during this informal class Lisa will introduce you to some samples of her work and show you examples of embroidery for inspiration. Working on beautiful white linen you will learn to stitch with freedom and confidence. We will practise cross stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, couching and fly stitch as well as experimenting with a simple running stitch.

Stitching slowly and mindfully, playing with the threads and forming your own colour palette enables you to experiment and develop your own style.  Learning these stitches is helpful for you to be able continue a creative story at home or for the purely practical and useful skills of mending and repair.

Included in this workshop.

  • A4 paper Stitch Guide

  • threads, fabric and linen napkin.

  • embroidery tools are available for your use at the studio.

  • tea, coffee and homemade cake are provided during the workshop
